I just discovered (or maybe rediscovered) that #97 has a 19mm hex on the front turn signal stems (later are 17mm). Steven asked me about them and it jogged my memory. I had kinda remembered that there was something different about the stems on 97. The problem is that I was missing one of them so back then I decided to use the 17mm version.

I'm looking at the one I have and I could probably make one from scratch with too much difficulty. The biggest problem would be matching the knurling. It also would not be too much trouble to make them out of newer stems. Just an easy lathe job of turning off the nut and then copper brazing a bigger nut on. A minor problem is the nut is a little thicker but could be machined off. After chrome plating you would not be able to tell the difference.

I couldn't find a reference to this on the site. So do we have any idea how rare this distinction is? What VIN was it used up to? So is this a sought after part?

19mm stems are fitted to various models and are still available from Honda new. I’ll see if I can find a part number

I think this is it 90154-268-670
You could ask the seller to measure the hex size but I’m sure it’s 19mm

That's the part number that's in the early parts manual and the later CB750-K2 manual.  :o So it appears that the same part number is available in either 17mm or 19mm. ??? It sure looks like 19mm in the pic. I did send the seller a question so we'll see. I just assumed that 19mm would no longer be available. That's what you get for assuming. Thanks KP.

Every original CB750 I have ever owned (maybe 20 now from sandcast #302, another four sandcasts, six die cast, three K1's, four K2's, etc) came with 17mm indicator stems. I have seen both 17mm and 19mm on the 90154-268-670 part number, but the 19mm are always in the newest packaging.
Not doubting anyone else's observations, just reporting my own.

Need observations from other owners of sandcasts, especially the early VINS.......

Hi!
Both #24/43 and #31/66 has 19 mm. None of my others have them so they are 17 mm.

So it looks like somewhere between 97 and 302 Honda went from 19mm to 17mm even though the 19mm were still around. Thanks for all the input. It will save me a little bit of work.

Just measured the winker stem bolt size on 2659 - 19 mm.  It was restored in 2005, so it's possible older stems were used.
