There are two ways to add an image to your post. One is referred to as "hot linking", the second method is to upload your picture to our server.
Hot linking is when you are "linking" to an image that is housed on a remote server like PhotoBucket etc. This method works great and is simple. Just click on the "Picture" icon, second row, second image from the left. When you mouse-over it the tool tip says "Insert Image". When you click it, it will insert code in your post like this:
img][/img] (I removed a bracket so the code would display)
To add your image you just fill in the URL where the image is located. (not the whole web page, just the image) if you are on a web site and want to know the URL of the image, just click the right mouse button on the image and click "Properties". A window will open with the image information, including the URL location if the image. Highlight that url with your mouse and "copy". (hold control down on your keyboard and press "C") (some browswers have a "Copy URL function) To insert the URL into the code make sure your cursor is between the tho middle image brackets and paste the URL. (hold down control on your keyboard and press "V") Your code will now look like this:
img]http://http://whateverURLtheImageIsAt.jpg[/img] (I removed a bracket so the code would display)
The only problem with adding images to the board in this fashion is if the image is removed from the remote server, the company (such as PhotoBucket) closes down etc. the image is lost and cannot be retrieved. That leaves a void in the post here. The preffered method of posting an image is to attach it, or upload it to our server. That way it is preserved forever in our backups.
To upload an image follow these steps. First, make sure your image is is larger than 1200 KB. If you do not have software to edit your image you can do it here for free:
http://www.shrinkpictures.com (you can do a 65 x 65 avatar there as well) Once you have your image ready and you have completed your post you will see under the post window
"Additional Options". Click on that and you will see a number of additional options for your post. The one we are interested in here is the
"Attach" function. Simply hit the "Browse" button and search for the image you want to attach to your post on your hard drive. If you have more than one attachment, click
"more attachments" after your fist image is added and a send box will appear. You can add up to 10 images per post. If yu have more than 10, just do another reply to the thread and add your additional images. Note: Attachments will not show in the preview function and will take time to upload once you click "Post".
