General Discussion / Re: Sand Cast On Ebay
« on: January 04, 2016, 07:13:55 pm »
Well I was extremely disappointed to learn most of the rest of the "sandcast" bike was mostly KO stuff. Swing arm, center stand, side stand, front end, engine covers, oil tank, cylinders, carbs, head, even many internal parts to the motor. I can only assume when the bike was crashed early on and the bike rebuilt with a parts bike from 73up most of what went back on were the newer items. So now I have a ton of K3 parts to list on Ebay and CL that I had hoped to sell to the guy who bought the frame and cases. I was sick to hear the prices he would have given me if they were SC and not K3 parts

General Discussion / 9 Hole Replacement Clutch Cover
« on: January 04, 2016, 07:09:14 pm »
I think it's a line of sh*t he's feeding me unless you guys correct me. I saw this 9 hole sandcast clutch cover on Ebay. It is clearly a 10 hole with the 10th hole filled with filler. Seller is saying it is a :
"Up for sale is a NEW OLD STOCK Clutch Cover for your 1969 Honda CB750 K0 "Sandcast".  This is the correct clutch cover for the "sandcast" engine with 9 mounting holes instead of 10 on the later K0 engines.  This is a REPLACEMENT cover, it is cosmetically slightly different than the original clutch cover but functionally the same.  Honda part code# 11342-300-040.  This part is in overall good shape, has corrosion from many years of storage, see the pics."

Did Honda do this as replacement or is this just a fraudulent listing?
If it is a real NOS item would it be worth sandcast money  or the $35-$45 a die cast cover brings?

Can I make a suggestion In your description header use the word sandcast and K0 and 69 rather than the 2 words sand cast. You will get a ship load more hits ;)

Does it really matter what side it is inserted?

General Discussion / "8"bolts
« on: November 28, 2015, 10:10:47 pm »
We're having a discussion elsewhere on the "8" bolts found on different places on a CB750. It doesn't appear to be a hardness grade. But no one can determine what it means or where they actually go. And without those answers, whether they are a noticeable fail if they are not on a restoration. There's talk that a "sharp eyed AMCA judge" might deduct points for it. In all the talk we have about what's right or wrong on a sand cast the question of these "8" bolts has never come up. Any answers from our experts here?

Why importing a bike when you know it's forbitten?

Maybe he was unaware of the issue, I certainly was. I could understand not being able to ride one there, but to tell me I can't own one or parts for one just seems not realistic. I'd like to see the statute that forbids it.

There are only about 90 miles of roads in Greenland and only half of those are paved. There are not 2 towns that are connected by roads. Contrary to popular belief, Greenland is not Green, but instead 95% covered by inland ice, some 2km thick. The longest road is only 14km long. I believe that road was built by Volkswagen in order to shoot a commercial there. It's mostly swampy like conditions unless it is frozen. Everything I have read says it's just not a place condusive to motorcycle riding. Greenland is mostly ice, and Iceland is mostly green. :D

On the flip side, here is a story about a Hell's Angle chapter being denied an application for a clubhouse. No mention of any laws forbidding motorcycles.

Click on the link to open an album of pics of the Sand Cast. I'm told some of the parts are not SC. I suspect when it was in an accident some later year parts were used to rebuild it. maybe you guys can point out the differences? Open the album and then scroll through.

The chart is vague. The engine VIN's for Netherlands and England should not show a starting point of 1000001, but at the very least 1007415. Am I correct? Germany could conceivably gotten around 2000 SC's by frame number count.

I emailed and Bojje replied to me. He did find frame #7414, but it is in current use on a Seeley. I would try my darkest to try and swap a different sandcast frame with the guy to end up with matching number 7414. It wouldn't be a factory combo , but still be valuable.

My old eyes must be getting worse, my sister tells me the frame VIN is 1568 and not 1565.
