Hello,

Maybe you are looking for these..... http://www.yamiya750e.com/index.php?main....products_id=492

I purchased them and they are great!

Thanks Joe - do you have a decent image of them - the Yamiya one is not very resolute and when i have asked them before for Hi-res images - something must get lost in the translation!!

Anyone know where I can get the clear plastic sleeve (PVC?) that fits over Honda bullet terminals. I have made a tool to heat fuse them onto the cables (modified daughters old hair staighteners  ) I want to create the original look on my '69 UK K0 Iknow I can get heatshrink but it doesn't look right.

Also anyone know the ID of the black sleeve on the Sandcast / K0 that goes over the loom and into the headlamp? My guess is 16mm

Engine Mechanical / Testing the Primary drive assembly

Hi - I posted a thread on the SOHC4 website but I am hoping you guys may have some of the data I need.

Also: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=64960.0

I would like to set my primary drive sprocket assembly up on a torsion rig and measure the torque vs angular deflection into a data logger. That way I could determine the softness of the rubbers without de-riveting. Does anyone have an idea about the figures expected? I have three assemblies one '69 K0, one K7 and one F1 There appears to be no discernible free angular movement on the K0 one but I am unsure of the hardness of the rubber inside. after all they are 40 years old now. I intend to put the data onto an Excel graph and freely share the information. I will also share details of the test setup I am using. I already have all of the necessary instrumentation so it won't cost anything apart from my time!!

The basic data I need is:
1) Maximum torque applied on the primary drive sprocket assembly on a standard engine.
2) Hardness of the cush rubbers when new preferably in IRHD (International Rubber Hardness Divisions)
3) Dimensions on a new rubber ( not obtainable as a spare part from Honda and never was to my knowledge!! )
4) Any rubber compounding details.

I am going to use a scrap K7 assembly as a starting point for testing.

I imagine Sandcast owners will have addressed this issue, as, like mine, your primary cush drive may be 40 years old now.

I am aware of the HD ones from M3 but I am after standard engine performance. A German CB750 club manufactures new standard ones but won't sell to non-members.

Cheers Ash D

The Beginning / Re: Metal Cleaning Question

I bought a CB750 341 style rear fender from the USA for my UK K0 (I could not find a new300 style one with the UK 4-hole lamp mount) and the chrome was in really good condition but had the usual slight surface rust underneath, which I wanted to remove. I was recommended to use a product called 'Deox-C' by a friend who runs a local engineering company. I dipped the fender in it for about 48 hours, as I was assured that the chrome would not be damaged in any way. I have to say that the stuff is magic  because it removed all of the rust but no base metal or Chrome. I think they also sell it in Gel form too. Don't know what it does to Zinc plating though but will try it out and report back. definitely brilliant for restoring chromed parts though.

Fenders (mudguards) and Seats / Re: Duck Tail Seat

Hi New here from UK with K0 VIN 1010382.

I bought a brand new Honda K1 seat from David Silver to get a new steel pan, trim and strap/screws. I sold the K1 cover on Ebay and the foam is on Ebay now (bargain if you have a K1). I then got a 'Ducktail' foam from 'Discovers' and told them I thought that the aftermarket cover they sell does not look right and asked if there was anyway they could make me a cover with deeper padding in the 'quilting'. For about 15GBP more their 'supplier' told me he does in fact make a cover with 'extra padding'. I shipped all of my parts off to them and very pleased with the results. OK it's not up to Yamiya standard but much better than the Dave Silver/ CMS ones or any other I have seen.

BTW the repro D. Silver one is made by the UK 'Supplier' but they are hammered down on price so don't fit the superior quality cover and have the time to - as he puts it - 'Give it that extra special care'.

Pity we can't get together with the UK people and get him to reproduce a Yamiya type
