General Discussion / EBC or Honda front brake pads?
« on: February 02, 2016, 09:21:05 pm »
Not sure if it is possible to improve the feel of the front brake.  Less effort would be an improvement. Does this mean a softer pad would be advisable?  Recommendations would be appreciated.  Currently running stock pads.

Cheers

General Discussion / Re: My Sandcast Story (long)
« on: September 13, 2010, 06:02:30 pm »
The nicest people ride Honda's....what wrong with her?  Good idea to keep the bike this time.  As a Buddy used to say years ago before any if us twenty year olds (back then) were married.  "Why buy a cow when milk is so cheap".  So Deacon the Sandcast can't be replaced but the woman can....that can be a hard lession as your story demonstrates.  Thanks for sharing it with us.

Gauges - Levers and Cables / Re: Speedo/Tach Disassembly
« on: February 23, 2010, 08:15:45 am »
Thanks steff750 and kp for the responses.... I will try the heat gun first- it has been invaluable in removing decals and number plates. Also, dental floss works amazing for removing glued on stuff in conjunction with heat.

I just restored the dash on my 1968 BMW wish I knew how to post a pic from my PC

Cheers, Bob

Gauges - Levers and Cables / Speedo/Tach Disassembly

Any suggestions/comments for disassembly. The purpose being to clean the gauges and swap out the clear plastic lens in each unit. The plastic lenses are still available from Honda. Not sure how much effort is involved but the meters sure would look nice cleaned up.

Shows and Events / Re: WHO WANTS A 50th ANNIVERSARY MEET !!??!!

AMA VMD in 10 years...cool......hate to have to wait so long to have as much fun as we did last month. Perhaps VJMC would be the best way to coordinate with members going to Mid-Ohio in the interim years. Thinking ahead is the best way to orchestrate another milestone event for the CB750. Count me in!

Wow, AMA VMD was a really cool event.

Being our first Mid-Ohio trip and relatively new to the CB750- made for a fantastic opportunity. We learned about our CB750s. met lots of new friends and got to show off our bikes. Perhaps more than you could take in in just a couple days.

We were able to meet and learn from the experts. Bob Hanson, Bob Jameson and Vic World. All three.... friendly, approachable and nice people-thanks guys.

Judging from the many smiling Sandcast/K0 members under the big tent, I think Steve Swan is to be commended on his fine job!

The members brought beautiful examples of the Sandcast and K0 bikes. Nice folks every one! It was a pleasure to have been a part of The 40th anniversary CB 750-"THE KING OF MOTORCYCLES" (S. Honda)

Cheers,

Wheels - Hubs - Spokes - Tires / Re: TIRES???? In need of expert advice
« on: February 21, 2010, 12:38:12 pm »
Thanks for all the great tire brand suggestions. I will examine each of them and compare the performance vs appearance to find a good compromise.

A follow up question:

How big can you go in tire size with the stock rim sizes? The front is 3.25-19 stock but my bike had a 3.50-19 tire with no issues. The rear is 4.00-18 stock but there is allot of room back there which makes it tempting to go up a little to 4.25-4.75-18 tire if those sizes are even available?

Any size suggestions or concerns are greatly appreciated.

KP,
In the south it's a "tar"-so we can't even agree what to call it in the same country! What Brand do you prefer?

Jim,
I'll be sure to check out the Bridgestone Accolades "tar"s, "tyre"s well you know what I mean. Thanks for the suggestion.

Wheels - Hubs - Spokes - Tires / TIRES???? In need of expert advice
« on: February 21, 2010, 12:35:01 pm »
Currently a new set of Kenda tires are on the bike. They seem like a good highway tire but are very square near the edges. The roads nearby are like the "Tail of the Dragon" or "Deals Gap" very curvy so your riding on the sides of the tires all day long.

Please all you CB750 experts pass along your favorite combination, as well as the largest practical size tires that will fit on the stock rims.

Thanks in advance for your input-it will be taken seriously!
