Motorcycle's Wanted / 12mm front sprocket bolt
« on: February 23, 2022, 07:55:53 am »
I am currently working on engine number 101xxxx and noticed the chain oiler bolt that threads into the input shaft is missing.  I had one for a 102xxxx engine but apparently the 101xxxx is smaller in diameter.  If anyone has one laying around it would be appreciated.

General Discussion / early 28 carbs

I recently found a set of early 28 carburetors.  Is there any performance benefits with the short slides and light springs?

General Discussion / Opinion needed on original paint
« on: January 19, 2017, 04:17:40 pm »
I have sandcast 1977 and the guy I purchased it from had it repainted very nicely just not in its original color.  He had an original paint set used but very nice patina. He sold me the side covers fork ears and airbox but not the tank quite a few years ago for a K0 project I had but would part with the tank.  I now have a chance at purchasing the wrinkle tank to complete my set and make my sandcast all original.  The problem is he wants a lot of money for it.  How much more would my sandcast be worth with an original paint on it compared to buying a yamiya wrinkle set?  The original paint is very nice with minimal fading a few scratches and wear marks.  I can probably buy a yamiya wrinkle set for what he wants for the tank.  Also the inside of the tank is spotless.  My other option would be have the repainted set thats on my sandcast repainted it also has a very clean wrinkle tank.  Opinions please....

General Discussion / Heavy throttle
« on: December 02, 2016, 03:50:08 pm »
Well I have been out of town working for 7 months; while I was gone I have purchased many parts to put my sandcast back on the road.  I replaced the tires, chain(diamond)and sprockets(17/45) , rubber intake boots, brake lines, and throttle cable.  The bike runs fantastic and handles great, the only problem I have is the throttle is very heavy to twist.  It felt a bit heavier with the old cable, which is why I replaced it.  I figured it would get lighter with a new cable.  It didn't,  it really starts to cramp my hand after ridding for a few miles... I have had over 10 cb750's K0's through f models and none had this issue.  Is this typical for a sandcast?  I have the cable routed correctly and the carbs are very clean.  I love ridding the bike its performance is definitely better than all of my other 750's ,by a lot....  Any advice on making the throttle twist easier?  Thanks

General Discussion / one for the sandcast gurus
« on: May 04, 2016, 06:48:11 pm »
Do sandcast generally tend to run better and last longer than say k0-k8 due to them being more hand built and attention to detail than later engines?   Just curious because I have had quite a few cb750's and my new sandcast with 42,000 on the clock runs better and is quieter and smoother than any other 750 I have had.  It will idle perfect at 500 rpm which I find amazing.  I'm also trying to figure out if its been rebuilt.  I also found a red round sticker that was under the airbox it looks to be from the factory any ideas???

General Discussion / Found cb750-1001977 today
« on: April 29, 2016, 07:36:06 pm »
I purchased a really nice early sandcast today.  Its frame number is cb750-1001977 engine is cb750e-1002091. I checked the case in front of the sprocket and its solid no chain holes.  The bike was very customized has Lester's and a cool fairing.  The paint on the frame is very nice you can tell this bike was well cared for.  It has a wrinkled tank and number 8 bolts everywhere.  It also has the 9 hole clutch cover and recessed ignition switch.  Now to get it running.

General Discussion / Throttle cable question
« on: July 07, 2012, 08:18:10 pm »
I purchased a new throttle cable from Z1 enterprises .  It is the stock 1 to 4 cable setup.  I didn't adjust anything else and when I started the bike its idle was pegged at 3,000 rpm. I checked all the cables to make sure they were free moving , turned idle screws all the way out , and re started with the same problem. Do you think that the carbs need to be re synced due to the new cable?  It idled and ran perfect with the old cable I wouldn't think there would be so much of a difference between cables.  Is there something I am missing?
