I use IRC GS-11 front and rear on all of my CB750's. They have the old style/original look with modern rubber technology. Marty

The center screw is on the cb750k0 starting with engine serial number CB750E-1026144. The center screw is for oil adjustment to lubricate the drive chain. Marty

Excellent story, I think it's great especially when the guy keeps the sand cast in the end.

Fenders (mudguards) and Seats / Re: Yamiya Seat Foam and cover
« on: February 20, 2010, 02:51:55 pm »
Steve:
The foam being a little bit wider/longer than the seat base is not necessarily a bad thing. The cover should be a snug to a tight fit as the foam will give and settle over time. Foam is sold by the property of density. The more dense the foam the more it will hold its shape with less give. If your cover fits over the foam with minimal effort it should be fine. The seat base and foam should be as close a match as possible 1/8 inch over the circumference of the base is do-able . Marty

Front End and Suspension / Re: Top Trees

There are two different upper triple clamps domestic/Japanese and the export type. The domestic type has a hole for a speed light that comes on when the speedo reaches the max speed allowed in Japan (approximately 60 kph). The other one has no hole and is of the export type. My domestic/Japanese parts book shows the hole type and my U. S. parts book shows no hole. The Honda part numbers indicate the upper triple clamps for the export type to be the same for K0, K1, K2 and some early K3's. Marty

VIN's / Re: ?sandcast? CB750E-1014143

The cases I am referring to are the French sand cast Vin#1014143. As for the casting date and casting mold identifier code they are located as follows. On the top case they are located just forward of the top rear engine mounting bolt, clutch side. On the lower case they are located on the shifter/transmission side just forward of the gear box sprocket. The letters and numbers are raised and set on a 1/4 inch raised square. THESE NUMBERS/LETTERS ARE MOLDED WITH THE CASES, NOT STAMPED. Marty

The letter and number stampings look to be of the early Honda stamping type. I have an early ko engine number 1008138 manufactured 10-3 it is a ten hole die cast . I also have a set of unstamped 9 hole sand cast cases with a stamp date of 9-10. My thoughts are that something was wrong with the original engine and an unstamped motor was installed in japan prior to exporting and stamped using the original engine number. Honda frames and engines were selected at random with no set pattern. Marty
