Front End and Suspension / Fork Oil Recommendation

Hi,

What fork oil and weight do you recommend?  What is stated in the owners manual, which is not actual fork oil.

Thank you,
Joe K.

General Discussion / Engine Oil with Zinc
« on: April 13, 2020, 07:07:53 pm »
Hi Everyone,

I saw an earlier topic about oil (synthetic) and several of you like the non-synthetic Kendall oil.  I was wondering if anyone has an opinion on using engine oil that contains zinc.  I heard several years (decades) ago they removed zinc from oil because it ruined catalytic converters.  But that zinc really helped engines, especially flat cam engines.  Since many of us have the 1969/1970 bikes I thought it would be a good idea to use this type of oil.  Lucas Oil sells a 10-30, 10-40 & 20-50 Hot Rod & Classic brand with Zinc and other additives for older designed engines.  Please let my know your thoughts.

Thank you,
Joe K.

Hi Duane,

Thank is good information and sending the photo that shows the very original under the emblem.  I don't think mine came out looking like that at all.  Would be good for the painter to know what they are doing and have a color sample of the OEM just like the sample you provided.

I agree with you, KP that modern cameras/phones get it close to correct.

Those are really nice colors KP.  I can tell they all have a darker shade than mine.

Hi,

I have a blue/green sandcast that was painted a few years ago.  The shade seems lighter than the original factory Honda blue/green.  I am aware that the sun and/or shade can make a difference.  I looked at photos on Yahoo images and can almost tell immediately a newer lighter color than an older darker original color shade.  Even Vic World's Honda Museum bike looks lighter than original.  Let me know your thoughts and please upload photos of original vs. new for comparison.  I looked at Steve Swan's bike on the Gallery page and his original bike looks darker than the newer painted one further down the page.

I uploaded some photos of my bike inside and outside and one I found on the internet that looks to me original Honda.

Either way I wish mine was darker.

Thank you,
Joe K.

General Discussion / Happy 50th Birthday CB750 Sandcasts!
« on: May 24, 2019, 07:05:20 pm »
Most days this year 2019 our sandcast engines were casted 50 years ago.  According to my case CB750E-1004646 was cast on July 23, 1969.  Now this is where it gets interesting... My birthday is March 16, 1970.  Going back about 8 to 9 months from my birthday there is a good chance I was conceived on the same day!  What are the chances of that?    :o

Yes this is a good topic.  Now I am going to measure my decal stripes to see how off they are.  ???
