General Discussion / Visit at Mark
« on: November 19, 2018, 12:53:37 pm »
Hi!
I have been in USA for hunting last week. In the meantime my friend Randy and I visited Mark Buettner at his company. I want to thank Mark for his hospitallity and showing his bikes. #97/100 is a really nice bike and I am sure his projects also will be.
Thank you Mark, Bo from Sweden

General Discussion / Winkerstems
« on: July 22, 2018, 03:54:03 pm »
Hi!
Last week I finished#31/66 and found 19 mm front winkerstems. To me they look original. I also finished the fully restored #24/43 and have used 17 mm winkerstems. My question to you who have single- or twodigit  CB750, please check and give me your answer what size your original winkerstems are?
Thanks in advance, Bo from Sweden.

General Discussion / Main harness
« on: June 27, 2018, 02:45:49 pm »
Hi!
Since I have checked my old Main Harness I have found this:
—-040 was used on bikes meant for general export and US merket, I mean these bikes had no pilot lamp and had Sealed Beam headlights. My CB750-1009012 from US had Main Harness —-040 and so had all my US sandcasts. My CB750-1005119 is one of around 18 sandcast that came t sweden and equipped the German/ Dutch way. These German/Dutch bikes all had Main Harness —-050. Now my question: when ended the —-040 in real?
Looking forward to your answers, Bo from Sweden

"88 Model Distinctions" / Oilfilter guideribs
« on: May 29, 2018, 06:47:20 am »
Hi!
Yesterday when I mounted the refurbished original oilfiltercover on E43 I found there are no guideribs at the enginecase. At E302 (one of them whithout castingdate) there are two ribs as usual. I suppose these ribs appeared the same time rear left Enginebolt shifted from M8 to M10. I mean only 140 first enginecases do not have the ribs.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
Kind Regards, Bo from Sweden.

"88 Model Distinctions" / Swingarm
« on: March 28, 2018, 02:07:20 pm »
Hi!
It is very interesting with an early bike like #24/43. There are odd things with it all the time. Today when I was adjusting the drive chain I found Another thing. Look at the marks at the swingarm and you will find on this bike the signs/marks are punched in the swingarm instead of higher/relief as all other bikes I have (incl #180, #388, and higher VIN:s)
Looking forward to comments if anyone else has seen it Before. Perhaps Kerrys #28/132 has the same kind of marks.

"88 Model Distinctions" / Clutch cover
« on: March 10, 2018, 09:19:06 am »
E7414 has a strange clutch cover. I have seen 10-holed with a alloypin mounted in tenth hole but never as on E7414. The clutch cover is casted as a 10-hole but the tenth hole is alloyfilled by casting. Enginecase is a normal sandcast ninehole.

"88 Model Distinctions" / Primary chainguide holder?
« on: March 10, 2018, 09:13:11 am »
On E43 there are two holes on the inside above primary chains. They are not used for anything but I suppose Honda meant to mount a guide there but never did.

"88 Model Distinctions" / Kickshaft
« on: March 10, 2018, 09:07:08 am »
Now about kickshafts. My E43, E66 and Kerrys E122 has a kickshaft with a small hole in the middle as most have. But, E302, E407 and E636 has the kickshaft with a bigger hole. Peculiar that Honda started with small hole shafts, later mounted bighole shafts and enen later Went back to smallholed shafts again.
If you look at the kickshaft with photo taken from above you can see kickshafts was zinced from factory.

E43 has a different bearing holder behind transmissioncover. The mounted is of E43 and the loose one is as all others I have seen.

"88 Model Distinctions" / Chain tensioner
« on: March 10, 2018, 08:55:45 am »
Here is the Cam chain tensioner of E43. It is sandcasted, only rough brushed and clearcoated. It has never been silverpainted or polished.

"88 Model Distinctions" / Front fender
« on: March 10, 2018, 08:50:43 am »
Here is a strange thing about front fender on my #24. If you look at the front fender in the middle you will find the rivets are mounted higher than all othyer doublecut front fenders I have seen.

"88 Model Distinctions" / Kickshaft
« on: February 10, 2018, 07:38:42 am »
Hi!
I hope I will succeed attaching my Pictures, we will see when I post this topic.
I have found two different kinds of kickshafts. If you look at the Pictures you will find at E302 there is a kickshaft with a bigger hole at the end, wide 7,5 mm, deep 9 mm. At kickshaft at E7414 the hole is much smaller, wide 3,5 mm, deep 4 mm. At E43 there is a smallholed shaft, at KP:s #28/122 (i hope Iīm right about Enr) is also a smallholed shaft. At my E302, in one of the Pictures big hole, at E407, big hole. At E636 big hole. At E864 smallhole. All my others E1803, E2079, E3209, E5065 and as in second Picture E7414 have small holes.
My question: How come the production started with smallholed shafts, later used bigholed shafts and even later back to smallholed shafts.
Next question: Were kickshafts zinced or not zinced from beginning? I mean the outer end where the kickstarter is mounted. If you look at the pictures the bigholed kickshaft seems to have zink where the line around the shaft is, to get the bolt through for fastening the kickstarter. Otherwise I never has seen a zinced kickshaft.

Paint - Badges and Component Refinishing / Right colour
« on: February 02, 2017, 02:42:03 pm »
Hi!
I'm going to paint the coloured parts for my #24/43. The 19 litre fueltank seem to have been red from beginning. On the outside of Motorcycle World of March 1970 where they tested the same bike it looks as it was bluegreen. Is there anyone who have read the article and can tell me it's original colour?
I'm looking forward to your answers, Bo from Sweden.
