Sandcast Price Trends

I thought a quick and nifty little thread would be to track some sandcast sales trends. As numbers come in I'll put a graph together and post it. We would probably do 3 category's.

Incomplete Bike

Complete Original/Unrestored

Restored or Refurbished

Try to include the date sold and of course the amount the bike was sold for. Perhaps VIN would be nice to see correlation between low to high VIN sequence and sale price.

So, if you know of any recent sandy sales post em up! Might get interesting over time.

I have a spreadsheet that I have been compiling for a couple of years. I'm out of town right now but I'll send you a copy when I get back. Another possible category would be engines. I've seen a couple of those.

Wayne: If possible of the three categories you started with i would also consider two other categories, of just frames and engines/motors. Marty K.

Just wondering if certain data should be excluded like reserves not met, no sales, or even very high reserves that were met.  I'm pretty sure when a seller sets a very high reserve they are just fishing for an appraisal.  Problem with this is bidders have a history of bidding to find the reserve and then pulling bids resulting in a no sale after the end of auction.

Is there any thought to a category of unrestored , they are only original once, I was at the Vegas bike auction and the unrestored bikes were getting a real premium. just a thought

This is Bo from Sweden Writing. I´ve recently sold two fully restored sandcasts here in Sweden and also bought another one from USA. I´d like to change information in the registry and was told someone else than Chris does it nowadays. Hi just checked H H auctions at national motorcycle museum UK gold sandcast  prototype sold today for just short of £150,000 wonder where thats going ?

(1 £ = 1,28 US$)

#1002196 was sold for 35 000 USD !! The frame number on the steering column is not very "beautiful".

#1000565 seems not to be sold.

#1006725 was sold for endue 41 000 USD

2 diecast was sold for 15 000 USD et 20 000 USD.

I thought there was a more recent thread about this but couldn't find it. Is it just me or is there less "fever" at the 50th anniversary than there was 10 years ago. I remember bike and parts prices spiking about that time. I'm not seeing that now. As us old guys get tired of collecting or worse, gone, who's going to buy them. I could see the price going down as the supply goes up and the demand goes down. Every now and then I think about whether or not I should sell #97. And selling #97 is not something I'd want to leave up to my wife. Are prices going up, down or staying the same? Any thoughts?

Didn’t you have a spreadsheet of sales as you came across them mark? Running a trend line by price and date would be interesting.

I do have it somewhere but I haven't updated it for years. I'll try to track it down anyway.
