Well said Pete - "they all came from Japan".

I personally prefer ex dry-state US bikes, as there is a chance of retaining a good proportion of original components (assuming they are still present). UK bikes that have been used can be trouble - 105,000 miles on my UK 400/4 through 13 winters proved that. NOT ONE chrome item was salvagable when I restored it some years since. Even the swing arm and frame had rotted through in places.

Pete, my congratulations on this purchase!!
A little of madness that gives some hot pepper has the life!!  
But in the fact why t-il there not had of Sandcast in England?
No real English demand for the motorcycles Nipones of the fact that there was Triumph, BSA and Norton??

Honda saw fit to tempt us in 1969 with not one but two of the four PP & sandcast  bikes at the Brighton Show but did not send us any bikes until January 1970 by which time the bikes were build date 10/69 diecast. Shame on them! Maybe it's because the CB450 did not sell well here so they just wanted to teach us a lesson !!

Same here in Germany.

Prmimary target market was USA and they did´nt keep up with the demand. Just simple as that.

Soon when they began importing KO´s to Europe, production of K1 began. So there are not many "European" diecast. Must be hard to find a GB survivor.

In France there was 1250 K0 sold for the period of September, 69 has in October, 70 among which 543 Sandcasts according to the figures that I found in a book..
It would seem that very first Sandcast would have appeared in France to the date of August 22nd, 69 with the number 1000067/E-1000140?? But there I remain very septic on this information..

There were some 2 digit bikes sold in Europe so I would believe that 67 was sold in France. I have been told of a 2 digit in Germany and not from the US
Just a comment on that link to the red Sandcast That is an odd jumble It is an early bike (under VIN23XX) but it has no turn signals later model mirrors, has what looks to be a 10 hole clutch cover, a later reinforced centre stand It has a left hand horn, early brake lines but with 2 pictures it is very hard to tell what else.
