I'm ready to put my cam holders on and my parts manual says there is a special 6 x 56 screw (item #4 in the diagram).  My notes say that E100 had hex head "8" screws, but it had been worked on.  Pictures I have from several engines show the same.  Also when I checked through my fasteners (from almost 4 sandcasts) I found no screws that matched the parts book.  My question is has anyone seen the special cross, hex, flange screw called out in the early parts book?  In other words, were they actually used on the early engines?
Thanks,
Mark

I took a chance and asked the same question on the SOHC4 site without much luck.  Anyway, I checked my CB750-K2 parts book and it shows the “special” in the diagram but calls out the standard “8” hex head, 92000-06056 (56mm), from CB750E-1000001 to CB750E-1064902.  This, as well as the fact that I have looked through four sandcast engine's worth of screws without finding one convinces me that the special was never used.  I just had to know before I finished putting the engine together.  Sorry for another anal moment.  ::)

Old post I know  but my K0 Diecast VIN 1010382 definitely has them fitted (flandged Hex head with crosshead as well)  and I was wondering about finding replacements.
ChrisR will probably know more about them.

I have never come across these "specials" fitted to the cam holders.
Only the four M6 flanged hex head with crosshead in them as fitted beneath the cam holders (ALL SOHC 750 motors) which pull the head down onto the barrels. Also, one of these was used externally at the rear centre of the cylinder head on engines up to at least 1000665.
