Hi, This summer I finished the first part of ground up restoration of my Sandcast 1005084 (engine 1004957). Most parts are correct except for the biggest fault, it is an early diecast engine. The sandcast engine is still in my garage and needs som serious welding due to the common chain brake problem, otherwise I have all the engine parts. The gauges and the seat will be changed to next summer, otherwise it is quite correct. Itīs running very well and looks good.

I have already started my next Sandy project -1005321. I have a good Sandcast engine to that frame but not the original, itīs one of the latest (1007384) and the rebuilding of that one has already started.

Iīll add some photos from the assembly more in detail. The bike started as a lot of parts in different plastic boxes. The most important parts was there but I had to use Ebay, Yamiya and DavidSilver and more to be able to put it all together. I have tried to do as much as possible by myself including paintjob.

Thanks! I just realized I wrote the wrong VIN for my current/next project. I have no idea what that no 5321 came from, I think Iīll have to take a break from this! ::)
The correct VIN for my current project is #5128, nothing else.

Hi Ken,
Welcome to the board.  I think it's pretty cool that you have a sandcast engine that was probably built on the last day of sandcast production (within the last 30 or so).

Welcome aboard! Nice work. A tip on adding images to your posts. If you keep your image width to a maximum of 750 pixels or so they will show better without having to scroll sideways. If you don't have software to do this just use one of the many free online services such as: www.picresize.com

Mark, last day? I have never thought about it that way before! Kind of cool. Looking forward to see your assembly of #97, supercool project with everything included. Iīm a close follower of your project as I did practically the same thing (excluding some of your deeper special handling) with my #5084.

Wayne, thanks for the tip! I will add another picture wich is smaller for testing. The picture shows the then newly painted bluegreen. Behind you could also se my Candy Ruby Red K2 (Itīs not the original color for the K2 but I couldnīt resist painting it that beautiful color).
