Spectacular. Restoring a sandcast would be easy after the MF350.
That belongs in the Honda Museum in Japan - maybe you should send them pictures....

17mm, KP does not mention 17mm head bolts - moreover, I believe that all 17mm head oil filter bolts were "pattern"?
15420-300-010 is the original 14mm head bolt, and 15420-300-020 the later 12mm head bolt.

"88 Model Distinctions" / Re: Oil Tank Side Cover Decal
« on: May 02, 2019, 01:27:04 pm »
If you have enough spares, I could use two decals with 6.0 pints on them - I am assuming that #302 and #1120 would have had the early version.
What about #5298 though? (None of my three had the original label fitted when I acquired them)
Need more owners of original bikes to respond as to what label is fitted, so that we can understand what is correct....

Original decal from VIN 1008054 has in brackets 7.4 US pints rather than 6.0 pints as your label. Suggests the label change did not have a part number change associated with it? Suggests the change occurred sometime during sandcast production?

Interesting subject, particularly as I need to get #1120 painted this year in the UK, and getting the stripes right is equally as important as getting the colour right (IMO). Unfortunately the tank for #1120 does not have its original paint for me to be able to make measurements from.
I do however have measurements I made some years ago on the tank from #665. Unfortunately I only measured the RH stripe. The measurement at the front edge was 50mm, so greater even that that which KP noted? The reported variation is surprising.

Never heard before that there was a recall of the tensioner. Any one else have a view?

For me it would have to be the colour it left the factory, ie, b-g.

Every original CB750 I have ever owned (maybe 20 now from sandcast #302, another four sandcasts, six die cast, three K1's, four K2's, etc) came with 17mm indicator stems. I have seen both 17mm and 19mm on the 90154-268-670 part number, but the 19mm are always in the newest packaging.
Not doubting anyone else's observations, just reporting my own.

Need observations from other owners of sandcasts, especially the early VINS.......

In the back of my mind, I recall a feature in a Norwegian / Swedish magazine showing a picture supposedly of number 1 with the date 15th March 1969. Maybe someone else has seen the same (Bo, ??).

Fenders (mudguards) and Seats / Re: Honda Rear Inner Fender/Guard
« on: January 28, 2019, 02:11:32 pm »
341-000 part number inner fenders have elongated holes for the mounting bolts (and elongated 500/4 spacer washers). Later ones (341-010) also have a larger indent to clear the battery carrier).
Wiring clips are also larger on the K1 inner fender, 80105-300-010.

Wheels - Hubs - Spokes - Tires / Re: Rolled rear rim
« on: January 14, 2019, 01:58:39 pm »
sandcast 5298 came with a rolled rim. Die cast 1008054  has its original rolled rim. I also got a rolled rim from a 1010xxx bike which was broken up some years ago. 1015143 which I owned some years back, and believed original, did not have a rolled rim.

Headlight on-off switch fitted to UK market (and other European?) CB750's, I believe for the 1972 model year onwards. May also have been used on the 500/4.
