General Discussion / SOOC Official Facebook Group?
« on: August 28, 2021, 01:00:39 pm »
Do you think we need a SOOC official Facebook group? I think this site and BB are way under-utilized and they contain some of the best sandcast KO information on the internet. I passed a lot of information off to Sam and believe me, I know how daunting the task is to put it into some semblance of order for both the novice and experts amongst us.

I know in my line of work our business had to evolve as other platforms came on the scene. Most these days use web sites, Twitter, Facebook, the list goes on. I just hate seeing the group die a slow death simply because we’re not willing to take a shot at augmenting the brand through a different platform. Thoughts?

Links to Auctions and Classifieds / Frame 2848 For Sale
« on: August 22, 2021, 01:10:49 pm »
This is not my frame or ad so please contact the number provided if interested.

Frame vin no 2848 . Mint condition minus one tab missing on left sidecover . Comes with seat latch .

***WARNING TO MEMBERS***
Be very cautious if you see this frame number advertised for sale anywhere.  It’s a good frame however the seller ghosted Chris Rushton and myself after I went and personally viewed the frame for Chris and told him that I would be doing the financial transaction for the full amount agreed upon if Chris decided to buy the frame. This seller has multiple Ads across Ontario with different addresses, including an Ad where he displays Vic’s CR750. My sense is he’s fishing for deposits.

Ran across this listing. I’m not sure if this particular VIN has been discussed. It’s not in the directory.

« on: April 22, 2020, 11:39:14 am »
A friend who’s Father owned Nelson Motosports here in Canada shared this video with me. His father’s bike is number 94 ridden by Mike Duff. Pretty cool look at some early racers.

General Discussion / IMPORTANT - ALL MEMBERS PLEASE READ!!
« on: March 20, 2019, 10:40:02 am »
Hello All
After much thought and consideration I have decided my time as the owner of record, webmaster and Admin of the SOOC Web site has run it's course. There are a number of reasons for this, a few of which are: I no longer own a sandcast, participation/interest in the site has dwindled to a very dedicated few, with age my skills at web site building are not where they need to be and life priorities are changing.

Having said that, if anyone would like you give me a sandcast that would probably renew my enthusiasm and interest.  ;D ;D Just kidding!  ;)

On a serious note I'm offering to pass the baton to whomever would be willing to take the site over. I think the long standing members need to give the stamp of approval to any parties interested.

The current hosting and domain fees with StartLogic are paid up until 12/06/2019. If nobody takes over, I will not be renewing the services.

If you have basic html skills the continuation of adding to the site requires nothing more than time. I have many pages updated but not yet published. The files can be zipped and easily emailed. The board itself is fairly basic and only requires administrative privileges to make changes to it.

If you are interested in this venture please contact me at sandcast750@gmail.com and we'll discuss the details on how to transition the site over.

General Discussion / Merry Christmas
« on: December 24, 2018, 09:43:10 am »
I’d like to wish the members of the S.O.O.C web site a very Merry Christmas. Also, special thank you to those of you who keep this site alive through your continued support, dedication to these great machines and donations. We might be a small group however it’s not the quantity of people that make a great team, it’s the quality of the people. Cheers.

Scammers and Forgeries / Scammer trying to "sell" 374/E379
« on: November 19, 2018, 11:06:32 am »
Only one little problem, it's Vince Ciotti"s bike!

From:
Jose Machines josemachineautos@gmail.com

Shame I have to let this beauty go due to project forces. The famouse 1969 Honda CB 750 Sandcast. How rare is this one? Chassis VIN # = 374 and engine = #379, only five digits apart! Why are they apart? Hondas were shipped from Japan in separate crates of engines & chassis, and then assembled in California in random fashion. Many sandcasts have frame & engine numbers that are hundreds of digits apart, so this one's close numbers are rare indeed. • Comes with the original owner’s and shop manuals, both of which are nicely worn and faded, with the original owners notes on tune-ups and oil changes he did in the 1970s, further proof of the bike’s authenticity.

I am asking $18000

Web Site Changes / Bulletin Board Cleanup and Site Enhancements
« on: November 10, 2018, 10:14:12 am »
Hello all. I have started to undertake a cleanup of the board. This morning I went through the membership and deleted over 200 non contributing members. These were members who had signed up, never visited and had zero posts. Some were long time members with zero posts. Why bother joining?  ??? ??? Cleanup and maintenance is time consuming.

My next task is to clean up some old posts. Items that have sold but not removed, meaningless posts etc. If you come across anything you think can be removed from the board please copy the link and reply to this thread or send it to me via PM or email @ sandcast750@gmail.com

I've been trying to think of ways to grow our membership with quality contributors such as those who do participate in the discussions on this board. Facebook is definitely the number one  social media platform and I was thinking I may start of Facebook Group, the "Official Sandcast Only Owners Group" or something along those lines. The intent of such a page is not to dilute what we have, but to allow sandcast owners to interact on a social level, post pictures etc. and hopefully have them join this site to participate in the discussion here.

If you have any ideas on how we can enhance our site, I'm all ears.

Lastly, you may have noticed I placed a note at the top of the page that our domain and server fees are due. Any donation, no matter how small helps to keep the wheels turning here. Please click on the PayPal "Donate" button above to help out. You do not need a PayPal account to donate. I just use them as the payment processor...Or you can click on this link;

Thank you,
Wayne

If you’re having problems viewing some of our site’s pages, or if this forum is fragmented you can resolve the issue by clearing your browser cookies, cache, history etc.

We had a brief outage on Monday night. The problem was resolved at approx 11 PM EST. If you have another browser on your computer or device you will probably see the site loads normally on it as the fragmented data isn’t cached.

If you don’t know how to clear your cache for your particular browser, Google is your friend. You’ll find step by step instructions for any browser out there.

My apologies for any inconvenience however some things are out of my control.
