Some food for thought.....

Anyone have any thoughts on whether we should focus more on the K0 side of the house as well? I know at one point this had been bounced off of Steve but never took off. Two key factors in the success of a Web Site and Bulletin Board is the quality of the content, and traffic.

Because of the limited number of "sandcasts" out there, we have a limited number of members. It seems a lot of them once they get get the information they need or complete their project never come back. We need to find a way to keep members coming back, keep them interested and increase our daily visits hence my thought about also including a K0 side to the house. Again, it will only happen with participation. You folks are the SME's and can hopefully provide good picture's etc. Let me know your thoughts. :)

I would think that many sandcast owners have more than 1 CB750. I have 2 KO models as well. As the value of sandcast models rises K models will become more attractive price wise. These are easier to restore also.
I've seen the future, I can't afford it.

Hi Wayne,

i think having a "K0 side of the house" is an excellent idea.  making it happen would be nice way to give each individual model, sandcast and K0, equal but separate attention.  the K0's have their own distinctions within their production run.  a few years back, we had a domain name (no longer) www.cb750k0only.com  the idea was to have some sort of co-joined websites......  :)

I have always thought that the K0 diecast owner's should be part of the club (and they are part) since the bikes are virtually the same.  The web-site address needs to remain the same, but the title in parenthesis, "Sandcast Only Owner's Club (and K0 Diecast)"  or something like that.

Since I only have a sandcast motor (260) I feel more like a lurker than a member. Adding a K0 section would be great for me as I also have  a 12/69 K0 I'm nearing the end of a long resto on. Thanks for this discussion! Cliff.

I am all for the k0 to be included i have a restoration thread on here for an early 69 one, it shares many of its parts with the late sandcast bikes,

I'm probably going to be to odd one out here. This is a sandcast site and was specifically set up for sandcasts and I believe the focus should be on them. I would shudder to see sandcast specs and discussions including diecast data even though many similarities exist. Any addition of K0 should be a separate area IMHO. This was mooted some years ago and never got traction due to the lack of anyone stepping up to the plate. If we are to establish a K0 section then maybe an avid owner with a passion could put their hand up for this
Just my thoughts

KP, we respect everyone's opinion. I'll further clarify my thoughts. The intention would not be to combine the "sandcast" and "K0" worlds, in fact quite the opposite. I was thinking a common entrance page to the two entity's as show in the rough image attached here. I would buy a 3rd URL to bring traffic to that page. From there you would select either the SOOC as we know it, or the K0OOC to be created at a later date.

The sites would be mirror's of each other only with information pertinent to the given series of bikes. Separate VIN directory, separate Discussion Forum etc. For the current SOOC member, nothing will change really other than the format changes I talked about as well as the upgrade to the BB. Members would have a choice of course whether they want to participate in "both sides of the house". :) If you have http://cb750sandcastonly.com bookmarked as your preference or http://cb750sandcastonly.com/smf_forum/index.php for the BB you will never even see the new entrance page or the K0 side unless you go looking for it.

Of course the SOOC is my priority right now. I like to think ahead a bit so If I decide to do a K0 side, I need to keep it in the back of my mind from a design and functionality perspective.

Attachment is ROUGH example of a home page.

reading what you guys wrote, i think you're both on the same page.  what i write next, i don't intend to offend, i just don't have time to write it diplomatically.

"sandcastonly" is named sandcast only for obvious reasons.

nearly 10 years ago, December 2004, KP and i very deliberately chose the name "sandcastonly."

around 7 years ago, when KP, Chris and i discussed inclusion of the "K0", i reservedly but open-mindedly felt it would be a good thing, for a number of, what i felt (and still feel) good reasons, to include the "K0" machine and enthusiast community with "sandcastonly."

imho, while the sandcast and the K0 appear, at casual glance essentially the same bikes, with closer observation, they are not the same.  and, to further clarify that point, early sandcast vins are not the same motorcycle as late sandcast vins.  even more so, the early/late production sandcast bikes are not the same as the 2110-2113 p.p.bikes.  none the less, i recognized and still recognize, the K0 was the last version of the 1969-70 era production CB750's, preceding the K1.

if Wayne can give the two CB750 model variations separate but equal representation.........  WIN! - WIN!  BRAVO !!!!

that being said, what i understand Wayne is proposing as far as web things sandcast and K0 is exactly what i was hoping for when we decided, around 2006-2007, to be sandcast and K0 inclusive.  i bought a separate domain name "www.cb750ko0nly.com" from Start Logic.  i asked for someone to step up to the plate to manage "K0 Only."  no one did.  about 2 years ago, i cancelled the "ko0nly" domain name.  and now, here we are.

i feel VERY fortunate to have Wayne step forward to take this over.  if  Wayne had not stepped forward and no one taken it over, i would have announced later this Spring the "sandcastonly" domain name and the Start Logic account would be closed when the renewal became due this coming December.

i truly believe Wayne is very sensitive to the representation of the sandcast AND "K0" CB750 via our web presence.  i believe Wayne will do this right and do this well.

i like the idea and strongly support sandcast and K0 sharing an entry point and then having their own separate entrances to their own websites for each machines own individual respective discussion boards and machine specific information/communication.

My opinion, the bottom line, sandcast and K0 need to be separate.  i can harldy wait to see what Wayne does, it's going to take alot of his time and energy, but, IT'S GONNA BE GOOOOOOOD !!!!!!!!!

financially, whatever Wayne spends to make things happen, I WILL SUPPORT IT.

Thank you guys. I'm also hopeful the website can be self sufficient and none of use will be out of pocket. I MIGHT add a donate button somewhere, haven't decided yet.

I agree with the views expressed and welcome the entry page concept. I've said this many times, it's hard to write what one feels without seeming to be in opposition to everyone. I think the entry portal idea is a great one and as I stated, I hope someone can assist with the K0 side of the house as there was difficulty in getting this buy in some years ago
Good work Wayne and as usual expect my support

Not much with webpage management stuff but you can count on me as well for financial support.

the other thing i will support Wayne with, is getting any of my literature on to the new website.  there are at least 20 different magazines from the era, featuring impressions and road tests of the CB750, including the early and late p.p. machines as well as the early production machines.
